WILD! ANIMALS! ATTACK!

a day before Dobbie passed this kitty showed up on my doorstep, all hungry. I started feeding him, got a photo and circulated FOUND CAT memo to newspapers, craigslist, the usual places.

Someone called thinking this may be their kitty. By then the fellow had warmed up to me, sitting in my lap... so like the rocket scientist I am, I decided to try and put the cat in a carrier. I mean.. he's friendlt and all..

stupid move.
Augmentin 875 mg orally twice daily and several rabies shots later, the cat came back and sat in my lap (about two days later). He looked better as I had put Frontline on him... but there was blood in his irisis.

I consulted with Dr Internet and the vedict was 1. hit by car; 2. FeLV or FIV; 3. FIP

Turns out, it's Anaplasmosis, a tick borne disease. The vet said there was a good chance the cat would have lost eyesight if the condition went untreated.

~AND~ he is a she. And she's not fixed. In fact, she's had several litters (per the vet) and she might be preggers.

::((

*sigh*

So, Anna Plasma (formerly Hobo) is now in Dobbie's old room on a course of medication, and will be spayed as soon as she's off her meds. She's very cute but a little nippy (overprotective of her tummy? bored? a little of both?) but she seems very happy.

Part of me likes to think that Dobbie sent her, especially since she could have lost her eyesight (Dobbie was blind), but that's irrational. She showed up because I left some cat food out, trying to coax one of my cats inside.

My gardening job is winding up, it ends in October. I'll miss the extra $$$ and I love working there, its so nice and peaceful. Hopefully I'll be called again next year *fingers crossed* but if not, it's not the end of the world. I feel like my own garden suffered, I just didnt feel like working outside when I got home.

I am so relieved to hear it wasn't FeLV or FIP! (Our shelter had no problem adopting out FIV kitties, but the other two are a death sentence...and FIP there's no test that can really test, just that the cat was exposed to the corona virus, which if they are around dogs, they've been exposed.)

Good like with Anna. Glad she found you. :) Now she'll be well taken care of.

Agreeing with marci_ny - Dobbie sent her to you because he knew you'd need someone to keep busy with. And if she's preggers, you're gonna be plenty busy. :D

*hughughughugs* You are awesome to take her in. Give her a scritch for me.

What a pretty fluffy kitty! What a lucky kitty to have found you! (Possibly Dobby did put a word in her ear....) I hope all goes well with her.

Sounds like the poor kitty has had a bad experience with cat carriers at some point. Love those white paws and white whiskers!
I'm sorry you lost Dobby--I know that really hurt. {{{Hugs}}}
